Six people are still reported missing since the Aug. 8 wildfire in Lahaina, according to the Maui Police Department.
The list of missing people declined by one since last week. Those still unaccounted for as of Friday were:
• Artur Babkov.
• Lydia Coloma.
• Paul Kasprzycki.
• Robert H. Owens.
• Lee Rogo.
• Elmer Lee Stevens.
Maui police spokeswoman Alan Pico confirmed Friday that another fatality had been added to the death toll this week after human remains were discovered in the old Lahaina courthouse on Oct. 12. Pico said the individual has not been identified yet.
So far, 97 of the 99 total fatalities had been public identified as of Friday. No victims are currently pending notification of next of kin.
Anyone wishing to report a person who is still unaccounted for and not included on the list should contact MPD at (808) 244-6400 or email unaccounted@mpd.net to file a report.
Those who live on Maui and want to provide a DNA sample as an immediate family member of a person they believe is still unaccounted for should call (808) 270-7771. Those who live on a neighboring island or outside of Hawaii and want to provide a DNA sample should contact the FBI at (808) 566-4300 or visit www.fbi.gov/MauiFires for instructions.
